PRESIDENT'S WORDSI

Greetings fellow Homebrewers

Don't forget at the October meeting we will be choosing the monthly styles for next year. Bill Smith and Jeff offered to handle the choices. Earlier this month Bill Tobler, Tom , Norm and I reviewed our bylaws. The bylaws state that proposed changes will be made available in the newsletter at least a week before voting on them or presented at a monthly meeting and voted on the next month. The proposed changes (there aren't many or any radical ones) will be available at the meeting and we will vote in November. We also discussed the criteria for the "Most Valuable Brew Bayouer" award. My plan is to make the existing criteria available and probably discuss and make any changes in December. Don't want to make a meeting too long with business so I try to hold it to one thing at a time.

Jeff is doing the October topic, might be styles I don't know. Bill and Kristie are presenting the style this month, Oktoberfest.

September 24, 2009
Brew Club Meeting
Northern English Ale

19 members attended September's meeting.

Meeting began with 20 minutes of fellowship time where members visited and caught up on their past month happenings and brewings.

Critter gave an update on the outcome of his Party. He commented that all went well and everyone had a great time.

Bill Smith gave an update on how his All Grain Brewing Instruction day, held on 9/7/09 turned out. He stated that it turned out well and he was able to convince someone to go all grain rather then extract.

Election proceedings took place as follows:
Valroy was nominated and unanimously elected to serve a second term as President.
Critter was nominated and unanimously elected to serve a second term as Vice President.
Wayne was nominated and unanimously elected to serve as Treasurer and act as Newsletter Editor.
Al was nominated and unanamously elected to serve as Librarian.
Newsletter position is currently available.

It was decided that the position as Competition Director held by Daryl and All-Grain Brewing Instructor, held by Bill Smith would be considered as appointed chairpersons rather than elected officer positions as the offices are not currently in the club by-laws.

It was proposed by Valroy, President, that the club bi-laws be review and updated by the current and past club presidents. Valroy, Tom, Bill Tobler, and Norm will act as committee to review and update club by-laws.

Jeff and Bill Smith are to pick the styles of the month for 2010 for review by club members at the October meeting.

Daryl requested that December 2010 be Old Ale to correlate with the Saint Arnold competition in December as well.

Bill Tobler provided club members with handouts used in his topic presentation of GU/BU, cold steeping, force carbonation methods and barley wine tips.

Jeff offered to provide next month's topic.

Kristie provided judging cards to club members.

Tom B. gave the beer style overview along with Northern English Ale history and facts.
