Arcadia Brewing Co.
(short notes)

Battle Creek, Michigan, USA
September 12, 1999

This is an excellent ale brewery located in Michigan, brewing ales in the English tradition.  There are not enough US brewers accurately replicating English styles; this one does a solid job.  Unfortunately, I've only notes on the one beer below.  Given the opportunity, I should redress this limitation.

Arcadia IPA AIPA
This beer was reviewed as a pint at Ashley's pub in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on September 12, 1999.  Pours a clear amber in the glass, with a lightish head.  A big English hoppy nose, possibly earthy, suggesting Fuggles.  This continues throughout the flavor profile, where the English variety dominates.  This is not to imply that this pint is a one trick pony; there is a strong enough malt backbone and a sharp west coast bitterness (I wrote down Chinook or Centennial) to balance out this beer.  Altogether a wonderfully balanced IPA, with just enough of the essentials to make this a good beer.  I appreciate the focus on English hopping in the flavor and finish.
