Hogenmiller" <mehogenmiller at cox.net> Subject: "Spirit of Free Beer" Homebrew Competition Results Brewers United For Real Potables (BURP) completed the 12th Annual Nation's Capital "Spirit of Free Beer" Homebrew Competition at the Old Dominion Brewery at Ashburn, Virginia on June 12, 2004. Spirit of Free Beer, for the sixth year in a row, served as one of the Qualifying Events for the Masters Championship for Amateur Brewing (MCAB). BURP would like to especially thank the 45 BJCP judges, 2 professional brewers and 1 novice judge who dedicated their services to judging 332 entries from AK, IL, MD, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA making this truly a signature/showcase event. The Best of show winners are: 1st Place Andy Anderson Club: BURP Brown Ale - 10A Mild "Who stole my hops?" 2nd Place Mark Hogenmiller Club: BURP European Dark Lagers - 13B Schwarzbier "Black Tiger" 3rd Place Michael Robinson Club: Boston Wort Processors German Amber Lager - 9A Oktoberfest/Maerzen "Octoberfest" The winner of the Bill Moe Memorial Extract Award for the highest placing extract beer is: Mike Heniff Club: FOAM Rangers (TX) Specialty/Experimental/Historical Beer - 24 "81 Baltic Porter" Complete results will be posted to BURP website shortly at http://www.burp.org/events/sofb/2004/ .
