Michael Kane’s Dusseldorf Alt:

This recipe took a gold medal in category at the 2009 NHC.  The ingredients listed are for a 6.5 gallon post-boil batch.

 

Grain Bill:

9.25 lb. Pilsner malt

2 lb. Munich malt

1.5 lb. Aromatic Malt

.75 lb. Caramunich Malt

.25 lb. Carafa II

 

Hop Schedule:

1.25 oz  Magnum 12.9% A.A. 60 min.

1.30 oz. Hallertauer 3.0% A.A. 30 min.

 (about 70 IBU)

 

Mash grains at 150 for 60 minutes.

 

Estimated efficiency: 80%

Original Gravity 1.060

Final Gravity 1.007

 

Ferment with White Labs WLP029 (German Ale/Kolsch) yeast at 60 degrees.

 

SRM: 17.7

IBU: 65

ABV: 5.8%
