As it is ready to eat, just salt it to taste.  It's pretty bland without 
salt but it is strictly for flavor in a fresh cheese.  My recipe calls 
for 1 tsp salt for one gallon of milk but you may want to try half that 
and taste it.

I don't think I ever used it for cottage cheese but it might make it 
easier if you have it.
